Road trip 2012 - Day 2: Omaha, NE - St. Louis, MO

My kind sister and Potter waited up for us and put us up for the night in her tiny place.  We cozied up together and slept like logs.  After breakfast we hit the road bound for St. Louis, where we had a Days Inn booked for the night.

We hit Kansas City about lunchtime, and stopped at a park for lunch on the Kansas (smaller) side just so the kids could say they'd been in one more state.

It was a terribly dry and neglected park, with a million flies.  It also had funny signs...

and interesting trash cans suspended on chains.

Then Missouri.

I loved Missouri!  Very pretty and lots to look at.  They have a good mix of city & country.  The stadiums for the KC Royals and Chiefs were so huge and neat to pass by.

We were also surprised to see the St Louis temple, right on the freeway.  Who knew?

I think it looks like a white version of the Oquirrh Mountain Temple near us.

 Destination!

Bugs and the boys were a help to Strider with the rooftop carrier.

Rosebud was pooped.

Our family suite was huge!  A king in one room and two doubles in the next.  The kids loved their own tv.

A much needed dip in the pool was followed by a late fancy dinner of applesauce, mac and cheese, and crackers.

1150 miles down.  Phew!  Day 2.
