My baby is 5 months

I have no idea how this happened, but as of Sunday my baby girl is five months old. What the heck!

So here she is in all her squishy, happy, chubby, smiley, cuddly, nearly-sitting-up-alone glory!

Week in Review

Wow, life rolls on.
Here is what we've been up to.

Last Saturday we took family pics with my side of the fam in preparation for my baby brother leaving on a mission. My sister got this neat shot of our family's turn in front of the camera.

Then on Tuesday night we said goodbye.

Jedi had a little class play. Totally cute.
He played a farmer, a dog, and an alien. Yes, all in one play :)

We went to the Bees game, where we had front row seats
along the third base line. The visiting team gave Jedi the ball
after pitching warm-ups.

Totally neat.

We lost, but it was really fun and the first time the kids have lasted all 9 innings!

Oh boy. Then Friday was the beginning of roof-a-palooza 2009.
Strider has been buggin' me for 2 years about doing the roof.
I begged him not to.
I told him he needed more experience.
I told him it wasn't that needed anyway.
I told him we should use the tax return for other things.
I lost.

Yeah, it was a mess. The tear-off is complete, and
shingles will be delivered Monday morning. Oh joy.

We had a bridal shower for my soon-to-be sister in law.
Strider's little brother is getting married in two weeks.
My other sister in law Darcy did a fantastic job and it was so pretty.

I was with my sisters really late on Saturday. What else is new?
This is usually how it ends up. Sister's hubby crashed somewhere while we carry on.

But seriously. Look at the cousins and their cute sundresses.
Six weeks difference here.

We love our aunts!

Awesome and productive week. Now I'm left with this.

A year in the making

Strider went to Woodbadge last year, an advanced training camp for Scout leaders. It was long and intense and an invaluable experience for him. Part of the training involves specific goals to set and achieve in order to receive the Gilwell neckerchief, woggle, and beads that set him apart as a Woodbadge graduate. He did a great job and had his parents and my sister's family there to support him.

Fathers Day

Here is Strider transferring his clubs from his old $5 thift store bag to his fancy new one. So spiffy.

And here's PapPap and Rosebud sharing a moment.

Parenting is so hard, but we are loving the journey. What would daddy do without all these goofy kids?!

Menu Plan Monday

Look at me all organized and on time.

Last week was interesting. I was so tired by dinner each day that I really struggled with cooking. We did have salads on two nights, though, and beans once. Hubby and I loved it. Kids? Not so much. I am really trying to use more beans.

Busy week, so I don't know if these dishes will be on these exact days, but this is what I have on hand. Plus, hubby's school changes from 1-5pm everyday like we have been used to, to 5-8pm on Mon and Wed. So I'm not sure how to feed him.

Monday: Mexi-Mac Skillet, cornbread
Tuesday: Wonton Soup
Wednesday: Tuna Casserole, peaches
Thursday: at the Bees game
Friday: Ham fried rice, egg rolls
Saturday: Cheddar Beef Enchiladas

Also want to bake bread, banana muffins and make lime sherbet.

See what others are cooking this week at Org Junkie.

Thanks, hon

Thank you for teaching our children.

Thank you for spending your precious time with them.

Thank you for playing with the boys just like a kid.

Thank you for your patience and love,
even when they have to be with (on?) you every second.

Thanks for loving your girls and showing them how a man
should treat a lady.

Happy Father's Day babe.

And I'd be remiss if I didn't acknowledge the first hero
in my life, my Dad.

Watching you with your grandkids reminds me of what a
pleasure it is to be your daughter!

Kid logic

As long I'm not the person who eats the very last one, maybe mom won't say anything!

Great Salt Lake

We had a neat family outing at the Great Salt Lake this week. We live so close but never go there. My brother wanted to go out before he left, too, so we hopped in the car.

It was amazing how far the lake has receeded from the original shore. There was probably a 1/2 mile walk to the water.

We saw some very interesting animal prints.

The breeze off the lake was making the baby gulp for air but she loved being there!

We saw lots of dead birds...and shotgun shells. Sad.

And the recent rains plus wind made really cool patterns in the salty sand.

The kids loved running around practically in the middle of nowhere. We will be coming here more often, I can guarantee it. We are looking forward to checking out more beaches and Antelope Island, too!
