In bloom

I cannot get over how beautiful fruit trees are.  Just look!

And all that beauty turns into food in a few months.  Amazing.

Lots of blooms around here.

Strider brought me flowers last week.  Just because.  He never ever ever does that.  I bawled.

Back outside.  The most beautiful bloomer is my nectarine tree.  Yes, I'll overload you with photos.

Hi there, little guy.

Nature rocks.

I decided to plant my own grass for Easter this year (see this Pin).

This is how it looked on Wednesday, Day 3.  Hmm, need to clean the windows much?

And today on Day 6!  Wow!

Also in bloom, my pillow boredom.  I made some gray floral covers using fabric in my stash.  But I made them a little too big, so they look baggy, which bugs me.   Well at least it didn't cost me anything.

All this blooming has me sneezing and itching, big time.  Glad it's worth it.  Happy Spring!

Room by room: kitchen

I realized I never showed you my kitchen.  It's one of the biggest blessings of this home.

So right off the main room of the house is the doorway to the kitchen.  Yes, people coming to my front door can basically see my sink.  Eek!  But hasn't proved to be too much of a problem. Yet.

The storage space is 3x+ what I had in my last little home.  Not an exaggeration.

See the cinnamon rolls cooling on the stove?  Mmmm.

This last week as I stood at the sink I have been watching the buds on the peach tree swell.  They'll be open by the end of the week.

Spring is so pretty!

Standing in the opposite doorway, the one leading into the laundry room.

I moved my baking items out of plastic rubbermaid canisters and into glass.  They look nicer, are more accessible, and hold more.

My workhorse, aka Kitchenaid.

Most of my prep work is done right here.  Pans are below, fridge to the left.  Most of what I need is in reach.

And those cinnamon rolls!  Oh, sorry.

Bonus cabinet.  Wonder what it is?

It's the original ironing board cupboard, turned shallow spice rack.  Cute huh?

One day this room will get a new paint color.  Maybe even the cabinets stained a richer color.  I'd love to paint them white, but with the counters and tile all beige I don't think that's best.  But none of that is at the top of the priority list.  I'm too busy being happy in my new house.

So there's my spot.  I spend SO much of my day in here.  What a blessing it is to me.

Pets & patience

Such a good momma bunny!  She did such a fine job with these little ones.  How over-the-top is it that I've been so dang proud of her for these last two months?

One example is illustrated here.  No one will be thirsty till she heads over to the water bottles.   Then they ALL need to drink at once, and actually stand on her head to do so.

They are so ridiculous!

She patiently waits for her turn.  I love watching her.

The cute snow ball in the front is the daughter we're keeping from the litter.  She's been the biggest and strongest from day one.  Super affectionate.

Sometimes she hangs back, though, and keeps her distance.  She's the mature older sister.  Just like me.  :)

These photos are a couple weeks old now.  We've given four of the six babies away and the last should go to a new home this weekend.

It's nice to see some other kids have the joy of picking out a new pet.  Bugs has done a particularly wonderful job at being in charge of their care.  He's so responsible and it's been a fantastic experience!

Happiness is...

a full fridge

finally, finally getting a wheat grinder

a stocked fruit bowl

a wreath to usher in Spring

gloomy, foggy skies that make me want to wear sweat pants

a new potato recipe to try

my hunt for the perfect water bottle is over!

lumber for a basement shelving project

and a wet, wet week

Just for today I will

listen to the rain

do my household duties with gratitude

ignore the bickering

forget the bills and due dates

and

remember the happiness all around me.

Prom?

Strider and I are having a blast with this kid.  Prom is a short 3 weeks away, so he asked his date this morning.

All he needed was a bouquet of flowers, a t-shirt and a Sharpie.

Easy peasy!  And she said YES.
