Jedi wrestles

Jedi surprised me this winter by requesting to give wrestling a try.  Of course!

He learned a lot, and I think the individual nature of the sport was really good for him personally.  I'm not sure if he was just using it as an off-season conditioning for football/baseball or if he'll continue, but it was fun supporting him in something new.

My favorite pictures are of Coach Yeates teaching him.

Purple pride

This kid has had a great season so far.  What a joy it has been to attend the games!
To sit in the high school bleachers and watch my son.  I love him, and I love football.
Suiting up after a 100+ of hours of practice is one of life's great rewards, and he is loving being able to play.

Imagine what I felt like yesterday when the announcer said his name over the loudspeaker for the first time.  He's a 2nd string Defensive Tackle. 3rd string Offensive Guard. But he had a great game and was recognized for making a key offensive block.  I was so proud of him!

I found a moment to be grateful, once again, for the chance I have to parent him.
On and off the field he is a great example of hard work and responsibility paying off.

All game I waited to ask how it felt for him to hear his name announced.  I was desperately trying to find a moment to share in his glory. Want to know what's awesome?

He didn't hear it at all.  He gave me a humbly surprised smile when I told him.

I love him.

Join me all month long while I find moments every day.
Moments to connect, moments to improve, moments to live.

Fall soccer

This cutie is in soccer again, this time in the fall league.  In the spring we were so busy with Jedi and little league baseball, I told her she'd have to wait till fall.

She's agressive and goes for the ball.

4 goals so far this season and two games remain.  Great job Princess!

BYU vs WSU

As usual, I am several weeks behind.  But I needed to share my special outing with Jedi.  We went to the BYU game on Sept 8th, thanks to our generous neighbors.  It was his first time to a college game!

We left really early so that we could do the fun activities outside the stadium.  His favorite was the climbing wall sponsored by the Utah National Guard.

Then he got a "Y" painted on his face and we went into the game.  It was larger than life, and so was his smile!

Funny story, the sun was intense and we got a bit sunburned.  His face paint acted as sunscreen, so when he washed off the Y it left a white Y behind.  It was there for 2 weeks!  So funny.

I am so so grateful for the opportunity to make a memory with my little boy.  Go Cougars!

Yankees!

My Jedi took a leap this year and dove into little league.   He had a talented team, a kind and patient coach, and a whole bunch of family members by his side.

As we got ready for our first game, Strider surprised me with my own Yankee cap.  It was so sweet!  I was giddy with each game, and quickly grew to love being at the ballpark.  At the end of the season I wanted another month :)  All the grandparents and some aunts and uncles were regluars at the games too.

Starting at almost 10 years old, he had a lot of catching up to do.  After working really hard and improving his swing, he had a couple hits in one game and was given the game ball!  That was one happy kid.

He improved a bunch over the course of the season.  And thanks to the great veteran members of the team, they headed into the playoffs undefeated...and won the championship!

The winning team

Go Yankees!

PSU @ UVU

Did you like my navy blue mani on Day 13?

I had to celebrate!  As you might have guessed from Day 11, my little brother was in town and we actually got to see him wrestle in the lineup. It was such a fun night.

We were this close, 2nd row.

Total domination; final score 13-3

Love this kid.  Matt is such a good example to me and my whole family.  He does what's right no matter where and no matter who's watching.
