Great Salt Lake

We had a neat family outing at the Great Salt Lake this week. We live so close but never go there. My brother wanted to go out before he left, too, so we hopped in the car.

It was amazing how far the lake has receeded from the original shore. There was probably a 1/2 mile walk to the water.

We saw some very interesting animal prints.

The breeze off the lake was making the baby gulp for air but she loved being there!

We saw lots of dead birds...and shotgun shells. Sad.

And the recent rains plus wind made really cool patterns in the salty sand.

The kids loved running around practically in the middle of nowhere. We will be coming here more often, I can guarantee it. We are looking forward to checking out more beaches and Antelope Island, too!

  1. We spend a lot of time at the Salt Lake. SOme years are worse than others as far as the dead birds go.One year you couldn't look anywhere with out seeing a dead bird. It was odd. When it warms up, the kids like to swim in the 3 feet for 2 miles out, water. Just make sure you bring a few gallons to rinse the salt off with.

  2. I cannot get over these pictures! The one of Potter and Princess from the side is stunning. I'm the process of setting it as by desktop background. :) The Great Salt Lake just must make for good pics or something. You should send them in somewhere.
