So, I have a tiny house. Less than 1200 sqft for the 6 of us. My dream is to have a mud room for stuff like this, but let's get real here. No floor space and even less wall space. What is left? Why the doors, of course! Let's go vertical.
I bought this rack (it's an elastic strap with hooks, really) a couple months ago and it has been wonderful!!
My kids actually use it, too, which is half the battle with any new system. Try it!

This very morning I tripped over backpacks and saw my life flash before my eyes as I went down, face first. Up until now I kept a big painting of a rainbow on the inside of the front door as a reminder that a great day stretches before everyone who leaves our house.
ReplyDeleteNow, since I think my physical health is finally at risk with proliferating backpacks everywhere, I am putting a door hanger on the Walmart list.
How did you attach yours? Our door is metal—could be a problem?
Thanks for the great idea!
No worries - it just clips to the top and bottom of the door. Hard to explain, but it doesn't actually need attached. Very simple.
ReplyDeleteSounds like it is a bungee cord type thing - Excellent idea for those small spaces. I'm all for organization, she says laughing as she triped on several things this morning. Hmmm, vertical storage??

This is FABULOUS! Every day we go through the same routine of trying to find my son's backpack for school. Great tip!! thanks!
ReplyDeleteGreat stuff! Vertical storage rules! (But I would love a mudroom, too.)
ReplyDeleteLove it!! Our home is the same size and backpack issues (and bags in general) are causing us trouble!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous idea. Would that also hold tons of handbags/purses?
ReplyDeleteYep, use it for my purse, too! There are 8 hooks on it.
ReplyDeleteGreat organizing idea! Our old house was that size, and it was hard to find room to put things away. Our new house is big, but has few closets...I can't win.
